ATLANTA, GA — October 10, 2026 — MapZot.AI, a location intelligence company on a mission to democratize traffic count data, today shared new scale milestones for TrafficRX 2.0, its latest release, which delivers modeled hourly traffic volumes about every half mile and next-year projections for every US road, rural and urban. The release comes as traffic data draws new attention: on October 16, Arity, a subsidiary of The Allstate Corporation, announced an agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of INRIX, a deal expected to close later in 2026.

TrafficRX is built on virtual traffic counts (VTC): modeled vehicle volumes for a specific stretch of road, built from mobility, GPS and sensor data rather than physical road tubes. Because a two- to three-mile average can hide what happens at the curb, TrafficRX 2.0 estimates traffic at the specific site, by hour, today and for the year ahead.

By the numbers

  • 20x more VTC points with TrafficRX 2.0
  • About 20,000 new VTC points added every day
  • A modeled volume point about every half mile, compared with count locations miles apart in traditional programs
  • Hourly volumes and speeds for any day and hour
  • Next-year projections for every US road, rural and urban
  • R² of 0.99 against ground-truth counts across all fifty states.
  • Data and models built since 2019
  • Used by more than 600 cities

The science behind TrafficRX TrafficRX combines multiple sources: an anonymized device panel, GPS probes, roadside sensors and telco partnerships, processed through MapZot.AI's proprietary models and data assets. Every signal is placed on a detailed road network that captures one-way and two-way roads, directional splits, side-of-road flow, stops and curbside context.

Turning devices into vehicles is the core of the science. MapZot.AI map-matches each signal to the road, removes duplicates, aggregates results so that no individual is identified, corrects for panel bias and expands the sample to the full traffic stream. Models are validated against independent ground truth such as DOT permanent count stations, and each new VTC point adds local detail on that stretch of road.

The same geofencing science measures visits, customer origin and cross-visits, always in aggregate. Next-year projections build on historical data back to 2019 and factor in planned developments from the MapZot.AI PlannedDev layer, migration trends and demographics on the road. MapZot.AI was among the first to introduce demographics on the road and projections that combine planned developments with migration.

Built for AI and scale AI layer 2.0 turns TrafficRX into plain-English reports, answers and maps. MAPI, the MapZot.AI API, and its MCP layer, both launched in 2025, feed the data into customer models and AI agents. MapZot.AI's own map-agnostic tile server engine renders at scale with scrape protection, and the company is SOC 2 Type II audited across all five Trust Services Criteria.

Who uses it

  • Coffee chains and QSRs: compare morning volumes and side-of-road flow before signing a lease.
  • Gas stations and convenience retailers: site selection and EV charging planning.
  • Project and infrastructure planning: cities, DOTs and engineering teams size projects against hourly volumes and projections.
  • Road safety: identify speeding-prone corridors from observed speeds and compare against posted limits.
  • Logistics and fleets: plan depots and delivery windows around hourly traffic.
  • Data science teams: pull half-mile data into their own models through MAPI.

"Since 2019, our mission has been to democratize traffic count data, so that every city, retailer and planner can see what is really happening on every road, not just on the few roads someone counted years ago," said Shobit Gupta, who leads global R&D at MapZot.AI. "With TrafficRX 2.0, a traffic volume every half mile and forecasts for every US road, that mission is now real. The question every buyer should ask is simple: how close is my count to my curb?"
